Rustic tables are quite popular and sell for good money.
This table is for sale on Etsy $1595, beautiful. |
In fact people like all wood stuff...I think it connects us to the natural life, especially for the city folks.
So the wood furniture and objects are popular in the city, popular in the country, popular everywhere.
When you learn how to work the wood, you can generate great income.
BTW, the Tara from the above blog (goingslowly.com) made their cottage frames after a workshop with her husband (they are building their strawbale cottage in Vermont). Then she made a picnic table (got the instructions from a web site), then their kitchen cabinets. Amazing.
One workshop and was able to create all those. Beautiful and useful things. It is a matter of getting familiar with tools.

Great video. Steve explains how woodworking tools aren't that expensive. You could buy 4 most important tools for about $400.
The video is very encouraging if you are interested in the subject.

This is an occupation especially suitable for people who don't have fear of machines. If you have fear of machines, you have two choices. You can get over your fear after getting familiar with the tools and safety rules- with a course (or from an individual instructor). The other option is to use the simple tools like a handsaw etc. Steve explained in the video. In fact there are apparently some people who use these traditional tools and make things. Besides the Amish : )

Here is an idea, if you bought your 1-2 acre wooded land, you could have your own wood supply, in that way, you can also make sure to plant new trees. Obviously you wouldn't be using all the trees at once.
I think you can get 1-2 acre land for about $7,000 , depends on where you live, of course.
You perhaps heard that bamboo is a better alternative to other types of trees because of its quick growth.
